Hey guys! Here we go!
Holiday Shopping Guide
Okay, for those of you who read this column often, this column is for those who like comic books and video games. Now,
the holidays are approaching, so what would you get for that gamer and/or comic book reader? I'm here to help with some shopping
ideas. I'll start with the video game player in your life.
Gamers
Since the video game player in your life probably has a console, portable device, or may just use their
computer, I'm here to help.
N-Gage-
Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon: Jungle Storm- To some, this is the best game on the N-Gage, period. It features 8 player
multiplayer and 3D graphics. This is a must have if you own an N-Gage. Rated T for Teen.
Nintendo DS- Actually, this a new handheld device from Nintnedo. It offers built-in PictoChat (Up to 16
users can draw pictures and send messages), two screens, built-in microphone, touch screen and WIFI ready. As an added
bonus, the Nintendo DS comes with a demo for Metroid Prime: Hunters. It was also one of my
top 5 picks at E3.
Super Mario 64 DS: The highly anticipated game for the DS, Super Mario 64 DS, is the remake of the original Super Mario
64, for the N64. However, this version features new minigames, more playable characters, and wireless multiplayer. Rated
E for Everyone.
PS2-
Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas: GTA formula + new cities + new vehicles and abilities= Must buy! Rated M for Mature
Ace Combat 5:The Unsung War: This the highly-anticipated sequel to 2001's Ace Combat 4:Shattered Skies. Be sure to pick
this up for the holidays. Rated T for Teen.
A Dog's Life: This game may not be the best game out there, but it features a unique main character in a dog and features
some interesting abilities. Rated T for Teen.
Katamari Damacy- This may be one of the weirdest games I've ever seen, but this game has a cult following and at $20,
you must buy this game. Rated E for Everyone.
PC-
Half-Life 2:'Nuff said. (Note: A new graphics card will be a + since the game demands a lot, graphically) Rated
M for Mature
Doom 3: A remake of the original Doom that had some gamers talking. (Note: get a new graphics card) Rated M for
Mature.
Sims 2: The original game but with 3D graphics, new items and a new movie-making tool. (Note: Do I need to repeat myself?)
Rated T for Teen.
Everquest 2: If you want to lose your loved ones for the next couple of months, buy this game. (Note: This game is an
MMORPG and a monthly fee is charged. A new graphics card wouldn't hurt with this game). Rated T for Teen.
Xbox-
Halo 2: The sequel to what some consider the greatest game on the Xbox. Rated T for Teen.
Fable: A pick for one of the
Top 5 best things of E3, this game features the standard real-time RPG gameplay, but it features an interesting good/evil system in-game.
Rated
M for Mature.
Dance Dance Revolution Ultramix 2: DDR online. 'Nuff said. Rated E for Everyone.
Full Spectrum Warrior: All you need to know is that this game was originally designed for the army. That and this game
has online play. Rated M for Mature.
Gamecube-
Metroid Prime 2: Echoes: The sequel to one of the best games on the Gamecube now with mulitplayer. Rated T for
Teen.
Baten Kaitos: Eternal Wings and the Lost Ocean: A card-based RPG game from the makers of the Xenosaga episode video game
series. Rated T for Teen.
Tales of Symphonia: A real-time RPG that features character designs from the person behind Oh My Goddess! Rated
T for Teen.
Mario Power Tennis: The sequel to Mario Tennis for the N64 that features new moves and courts. Rated E for Everyone.
Game Boy Advance-
Final Fantasy 1 and 2: Dawn of Souls: A collection of the first two games in the Final Fantasy series. Rated
E for Everyone.
Donkey Kong Country 2: The port of the sequel of Donkey Kong Country 2 on the SNES. Rated E for Everyone.
Multi-Platform-
Alien Hominid: This 2D shooter costs $20 and was originally on the internet. Oh yeah, about 6 million people downloaded
the game. Rated T for Teen. For the PS2 and Gamecube.
X-Men Legends: A real-time RPG from the developers of Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy. Oh yeah, it stars the X-Men. Rated
T for Teen. For the Xbox, PS2, and Gamecube.
