alexross422003-I would reform newspaper comic strip because they lack any substance. Think about
it. There are probably a few newspaper comic strips that are entertaining, a few more that are at least decent, but the
rest stink. You can write for an all-ages group and still be entertaining. For those of you who read my column,
Bone, though not a comic strip, proves this with solid characters. However, if the newspapers refuse, then get rid of them.
kingjoash-I'd have to agree with you on this one. Newspapers should reform their comic sections
to make them more entertaining.
alexross422003-Wow! We actually agree on this.........what if the newspapers refuse to reform the comic
strips?
kingjoash-If the newspapers refuse to reform, then either boycott them or just accpet the fact that
the comic sections will remain the way they are.
alexross422003-So what about web comics? Are they the future then?
kingjoash-I think there is a future for webcomics, and that future has lots of potential. Web
comics require virtual space and so do not entail the great expenses of paper and ink to produce, so anyone can produce them.
Better competition would lead to better quality, and the small price tag of owning a comic-strip site could easily be paid
for with advertising. As for them being the future...well, I still think newspaper comics will be around for
a long time, even longer if they're reformed.
alexross422003-I agree with you for the most part, but if comic strips are not reformed, a looming end
will come.
See ya!
