Linx's strategy for Age of Empires II: The Age of Kings

Lynx's AOE 2 strategy

Dark Age
When you start out in the dark age, you can't rely to build much. Try to get a small force of militia (10-15) and put them in the town center. Don't go after scouts, it's just a waste of time. These are the main things you need to worry about until you get to the feudal age:
-resource gathering
-light miltary build up
-advancing to the next age
-explore
Tip: Always keep a villager in the towncenter in case of an early attack.

Feudal Age
Contrary to what you may think, few battles take place in the feudal age. The main thing is is that you must build every building you can and research as much technology and upgrades as you can. Also, build a couple of archers (10-15) and put them with the men at arms (you must upgrade your militia!!!!!). Also, you might try building 5 spearmen and 5 skirmishers and hit resource gatherings. Things to worry about:
-resource gathering (and protection)
-military build up
-upgrading
-fortifing your town
-setting up trade with allies
-light attacks
-advancing to the next age
Tip: Don't wear out your army on heavy attacks until you get seige equipment.

Castle age
This is when the real challenges start. Siege wepons, advanced ships, better calvary and unique units are just some of the new toys you get to play with. Begin building sieges as soon as you can get a good army together. Things to do:
-heavy attacks (ha ha ha)
-build several attack forces
-raid resource centers
-protect your allies and your resource centers
-build a castle
-strengthen your navy
-get to the next age ASAP
Tip: Now is the time to attack, just make sure you have battering rams with you when you hit walls and towers.

Note: lynx never got to write about the Imperial Age.
